Layered curriculum for the multi-leveled classroom

How can teachers better engage ELLs across the language learning spectrum in content based instruction while holding them accountable? Layered Curriculum, developed by Dr. Kathie Nunley, might just be the answer.

Consistently implemented in her English Language Arts class at the International High School at Lafayette in Brooklyn, New York (featured in the documentary "I Learn America"), the presenter will provide an overview of Layered Curriculum and demonstrate sample activities for adaptation and implementation.

Cara Schroeder is an English Language Fellow working with CONEDUQ as a teacher trainer in Queretaro, Mexico. She holds a Master’s degree in TESOL and is a former board member of Colorado TESOL.

She has over 17 years of experience teaching secondary and college level English Language Learners in Eastern Europe and the U.S.
